E-Safety

How can you protect your child online? The answer is simple. If you understand the internet and understand what the risks are, there are a number of things you can do that will make your child safer online...

There is a lot of information available to parents regarding eSafety on the Internet.
Below there is a selection of links to information which we feel will help you to increase your knowledge and understanding of the Internet and what the risks are.

KS1 & 2 Assessment

Your child will be regularly assessed by their class teacher throughout the year and any strengths and weaknesses are reported to you at regular parent evenings.

We are required to assess all children at the end of year 2 and year 6, using a mixture of teacher assessment and formal tests. The results of these assessments are reported nationally and to parents.

Children in the Early Years will be assessed using the Foundation Stage Profile.
At the end of each year you will receive a written report on your child’s progress.

Policies & Documents

This page allows quick and convenient access for parents to a number of school documents and policies.

If you cannot find the policy you are looking for or think a new policy needs adding to the list below please contact us.

Policies and Documents:

School Dinners

Lunch Arrangements

School dinner is available at the cost of £2.30 a day

(September 2014). Although we can take dinner money

on the day, it is easier if dinner money is for the whole week,

on Monday, in a named purse or envelope.  If your child is

absent from school the money will be credited so there is

less to pay the following week.  Cheques are accepted.

Please view the eats website to view the Primary School menus.

Free meals are available to those children who are

eligible. If you think you are eligible details can be

requested at the school office.  It is important that

you apply even if children have free dinners occasionally,

as it will help increase our school funding.

From September 2014 all children in Reception, Year 1 or

Year 2 are entitled to receive a free school meal every day. It is a

government incentive and is being paid for nationally. Your child does not have to have a school meal. You may send your child with a packed lunch or take them home for dinner. Or you may choose for your child to have a school meal some days and a packed lunch others.

This is new! Previously you could only claim for a free school meal if you met certain criteria but now all children, in the named classes, can have a free meal regardless of whether or not parents meet the criteria. For children in Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6, parents need to apply in the normal way for free school meals.

BUT……

For children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 if you are eligible for free school meals and meet the previous criteria you still need to complete a form!!

Why do I STILL need to fill in a form?

There have been changes to the ways in which schools are funded. We receive additional funding at the school which is targeted at the children who are entitled to a free school meal, whichever year group they are in. The more children registered for free school meals, the more money we receive to spend on them.

So………We still need all parents in all year groups to register children for free school meals if you meet the criteria.

If you think you are eligible or are just unsure whether you may be, please enquire at the school office as a matter of urgency.

Your child does not have to have a free school meal every day, but if you are entitled to one, then the school will receive extra money. If you are not registered, we will miss out on the money.

Please mention this to friends and family so we can ensure Westwood Primary School receives the money we are entitled to.

Advice of eligibility for Free School Meals = 01473260989.

Children who have packed lunches sit with those having school meals.  Assistants supervise children at lunchtime.  There is also a senior member of staff on duty over the lunch period.  Packed lunch boxes need to be named.  We encourage children to eat a varied and balanced lunch.  Fizzy drinks and drinks like ‘coke’ are not allowed for packed lunches. Please do not send sweets in packed lunches.
